We are both the same age - 62 years old!

The 62 year-old red truck you see parked in front of the office from time to time? Well, here's a bit of history about our "company truck". This is an International delivery van, custom made at the Oakland International Truck Plant in 1953. Always a California car, "Old Red" was custom ordered by Frank Banzaff, a businessman from Lake County. The truck was set up to be used to get to his hunting lodge in the mountains above Clear Lake and for years, "Old Red" was used for this purpose. Packed with gear and family, from fire roads, to fording streams there wasn't any place Frank wouldn't take "Old Red".

As the years rolled on, Frank passed away and "Old Red" was inherited by his caretaker, and family friend of ours, Flossy Foster who for years, kept "Old Red" safe in a barn. At 15 years old, I began driving "Old Red" up and down the fire roads of Lake County with Flossy and my family on picnic and hiking outings. Fond memories for sure - the big steering wheel, the long-throw gear shift with a "Granny Gear" used only for up and down steep grades and again, fording streams - one of our favorite things to do. The years keep rolling on, with my Dad owning "Big Red" and then my sister. Now, all these years later, "Old Red" is owned by Indigo Beach Properties and on the road in Santa Cruz County, checking the surf and beach real estate.
